Dreaming of travel comes first. Then the research is next to get you where you want to go!

Research is key to arrive at your destination in good order.

Research is so much easier today.  There are so many different resources to choose from.  I like to check for YouTube videos that might give me insight to my destination and anything of interest along the way.  If reading is the way I want to go, then I consider using Google to find a book, article, or blog that will help me find what interests me.

We are fortunate to have so many resources to help us find help and information to make our travels easier to accomplish and allow us to make contingency plans if our Plan A or Plan B doesn’t pan out!  Michael and I always start with our really want to do list first.  Where do you want to go?  What do you want to do and see along the way?  Will weather impact our sightseeing? Do we have a rainy day option?

Our research material includes:

  • YouTube
  • Richardsons’ Chartbooks
  • Waterway Guides (printed hard copy and computer versions)
  • Army Corps of Engineers charts
  • Charts for area we are traveling (hard copy and computer versions)
  • Navionics downloaded to our devices
  • Travel books from AAA
  • Library resources
  • Googling points of interest along our route
  • AGLCA website
